I feel like we could’ve gotten this whole story without the SA in the beginning??? We see killian is a psychopath and dangerous but a rapist??? No.. i don’t understand the assault. We could’ve been introduced to them in a different way imo.

This is *lite* in comparison to the LORDS series by Shantel Tessier. Now THAT is traumatizing dark romance

Given the way this book shockingly started, it wasn’t the worst thing I’ve ever read. But it certainly left me feeling uncomfortable throughout.

I really enjoyed this book. Loved it so much that I bought the cute hardback edition. The obsessed mmc who would burn the world for u vibe is top tier and this book displayed that perfectly. Killian is goddamn perfect and I would like to know where to purchase one of him. Definitely would recommend God of Malice (even though I’m tempted to gatekeep Killian).

I really need to stop trying to read bully/abuser romances. These are just not for me.

It's fine I guess, if that's what you're into, but I am for sure not.

At first I was like- will I like this?
Then I asked - do I kinda like this?
Then I had a weird existential crisis
Then it just got a little too much for me.
So give it a try-maybe you’ll like it, maybe you’ll have a crisis…

3.5 stars. This book got dark from the first page and I was not prepared! If you are going to read this and you need warnings about content, look before reading because you don’t get much time to be ready. I’m interested in seeing how the other couples in this series play out, and how the over-arching storyline plays out. There was a lot of suspension of disbelief required, but that can be fun when you want it.

⭐⭐⭐.5/5 || 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5

🩸 psycho mmc, like actually 🩸
🩸 innocent fmc 🩸
🩸 touch her and die 🩸
🩸 dark college romance 🩸
🩸 rivaling gangs for each university 🩸
🩸 gothic mansion mafia vibes 🩸
🩸 what did i just read?? 🩸

No seriously, what did I just read? TW for SA, this book is wild. The mmc is not a good guy; like the author's note at the beginning of the book says, he is truly a psycho, a villain, not just a morally gray good guy. So like if you can't handle that, def don't read this book. I went into it knowing all that and I *still* struggled to enjoy the book after the very first interaction in Ch 2 (spoiler alert, he SA's her), and like the rest of the book is her falling in love with him, only after she puts up a lot of fight, and like technically the rest of everything is consensual, but Killian Carson most certainly does not know the meaning of the word "no".

Good thing he's hot and also FICTIONAL, because that is literally his only redeeming quality. Well, that and he does soften a little for her. Like he truly does love her, and she loves him and yearns for all the stuff he does, but it takes TIME, and I struggled to forgive him for Ch 2. I still don't know that I have, but I love a good protective mmc trope, and that's definitely Killian. He's actually more of a "burn the world to save her" type and I do eat that up, but dear lord, is this truly A READ.

I probably will continue with the rest of the series, most because surely the rest of them can't truly be as psychotic as Killian, and also because I've heard some hype about both Nikolai and Jeremy, so hopefully I'll enjoy the rest more. I also would've loved more plot, especially with the whole Devlin thing, but this book is obviously setting up for there to be more plot for the rest of the series, so I'll be expecting that from the rest of them for that particular storyline.

Anyway, 3.5 because is Killian hot? Yes. Did it do something for me? Also, yes. But have I forgiven him even though Glyndon has and said that truly deep down it was consensual? No, cause Glyndon may be living in delusion. But ultimately, it was she that experienced it, so I guess what she thinks matters more. And also, it's fictional, thank GOD.

Did y’all not read the same book I did?

This book glorifies rape and SA and should not even be considered a “dark romance” - there is nothing romantic about it.

Not only is the main plot line SA every other page, the story is awful, the writing is redundant, and the characters are annoying. Why a publisher thought it was a good idea to put this book out into the world (warning notice be damned) is emotionally abusive to all readers.

Rina, (and frankly, all the readers who gave a favorable review) are you ok??? Blink twice if you need help.
