This poetry book felt like I was reading my own heart. I had to pause a couple of times because it brought so much emotion out of me. I also appreciated Almontaser wrote her poems without thinking about a hypothetical reader not understanding her Arabic insertions. This was truly a beautiful collection and I look forward to future rereads and future publications from the author.

Really strong collection! I do think it would have be a little tighter if shorter but overall some really beautiful work. At times there were some cliche approaches but as a whole I think her approach to her poetics was complex and well-rounded. I’ll definitely revisit this!

This is word weaving. It's painting and politic, hip-hop and holy chant and humor. It contains translations yet remains fiercely original, bold and brave and balls out. You'd think a 90 page book of poetry would have some duds, but somehow it doesn't. I also can't say any one poem (or a few poems) stand out to me. As a poet, this inspires me to write. I'm sure I'll be coming back to this book.
