I really enjoyed this retelling. The thing that made it lose 5 stars was for the first part it was in modern english, then when we entered part 2 (where the play begins) we switch between modern and Shakespearean english. I understand this is to follow the play and its lines, but it really throws off the flow of the book.

The book was good and I liked the author’s way of story telling. But I didn’t like the dialogue switches. I’ve read Hamlet and I understand Shakespeare but I didn’t like how it dialogue went from normal conversation to direct quotes from the play. I would have preferred if the author rewrote the dialogue entirely.

This read like pretty solid Hamlet fanfiction.
I love Hamlet/Horatio like any normal person should and so I enjoyed this read.

Sadly for me it didn't add something new to experiencing the story which is always the most important part for me when it comes to retellings. Aside from the fact that the original dialogue read really weird combined with the authors writing. Didn't really get it.
Loved the wholesome Wittenberg-arc tho!
