Not my favourite book. The whole captive/captor relationship that is not really that kind of relationship wigs me out. It's not as clear-cut, for sure, but it's a whole Mess.

We're introduced to some new plotty stuff in this book, and they get more important down the road. The Forgotten have some interesting abilities and a psychic network different from the PsyNet that was fun to learn about.

I enjoyed the second half of the book much more. Things start moving, children are saved by badass Arrows, and children save the day. It's so rough, very raw. And precious. It hurts so much, but there's the promise of a happy ever after.

I like the emphasis on how emotions are a true power. It's technically what this whole series is about, but there's something about the way how it plays such a big part of this particular book that makes it awesome.
