After reading the preview for this book I have to say I was excited and by all means I was not let down. This crime mystery had all the simple elements needed to help the reader follow along and it also contained plenty of twists and turns. This story almost read like a Crazy Rich Asians thriller. The main character is a picture perfect example of realistic flaws, in other words, you don’t have to be Superman to get the job done. Interesting and unique characters and suspects are sprinkled throughout. I would definitely recommend this book for anyone interested in amateur sleuth crime mysteries.

Couldn't finish it.
Terrible writing. LOTS of descriptions about nothing, not enough action or plot moving things a lot. So annoyed with the writer's tedious writing style I gave up.

Fabulous! Jessica Huntington, a rich California girl, caught up in dining, socializing, shopping and her cheating husband Jim Harper. She is also smart, energetic and witty. She holds a law degree and soon begins to investigate the murder of her best friend’s husband. Jessica soon finds all kinds of trouble to keep her busy.

I found myself engaged from the first page and couldn't put it down. The plot is full of action, suspense and mystery and I found I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. This is a wonderful story that I am sure you will enjoy. Bravo.

A good reading.

I enjoyed the book and was quick to fall for Jessica Huntington. Probably, the thing that most endears this book to me, aside from Jessica, were the descriptions of places and cuisine. But the plot is also great, and the storytelling, gripping.
The only thing that made me give this book four instead of five stars was a certain stiffness in the dialogues, provoked for an overuse of names.
But all in all, this was a wonderful read :D

Jessica Huntington has moved back to her home where she grew up after splitting from her cheating husband. Jessica and her friends begin amateur sleuthing when one of her friends husband is found murdered at home after the girls had been out partying.

This book has great twists and turns and unexpected bad guys. A well written and an easy read!

I loved this book! Can’t wait to read the next book in the series!

Thanks to Voracious Readers and Anna Celeste Burke for a free e-book in exchange for an honest review.

A Dead Husband is a mystery novel with a great opening paragraph-fast-moving and had me snickering in amusement. 30-something soon-to-be divorcee Jessica is a sometime lawyer, sometime former party girl.

"Everyone was having a great time at your divorce party except you," comments her long-time best friend Tommy.

Jessica's friend Laura comes home at the end of the night out to find her husband Roger murdered in the hallway of their home. The police are looking at Laura as a suspect, and Laura asks Jessica for help. Jessica becomes a bit of an amateur investigator and ends up in the killer's crosshairs.

This was a fun read-I really liked Jessica and her group of friends who were trying to find out "who done it." The story was well-written, despite a few odd tense changes from past to present, and a paragraph where third person "Jessica" suddenly changes to first person "I" partway through.

A Dead Husband gets four out of five stars from me, and I would read other books in this series.

Jessica's life is in a tailspin, but her friend's situation is much worse --- she comes home from a night on the town to find her husband dead. Follow along as the lawyer-turned-sleuth ferrets out the details to figure out whodunit, and you'll definitely enjoy the clue-filled puzzle and interesting setting. Meanwhile, intriguing minor characters, like Bernadette (a nanny/housekeeper/mother-figure) will keep you hooked, even if mysteries aren't quite your thing.

This was an entertaining suspense story. The characters are quite vivid and well developed. They are hilarious at times. Jessica's expertise at shopping is to be admired. You cringe with her when yet another designer outfit is torn to shreds.

The one thing that keeps me from giving this five stars is the story could have been edited a little more. For the most part, it flows seamlessly. But there is information that is repeated and long descriptions and background information early on that could have been worked into the story a little better. They detracted too much from the fast-paced story that was unfolding. I did love the descriptions, though. They were well-written and painted the scenes well.

I would certainly recommend this book, and I plan to read the next book in the series.
