The first one was better, but I still liked this one a lot. I appreciate that it is passionate, heartfelt, interesting, sweet, etc while still being clean.
🤍💙🖤
It was a bit of a roller coaster ride. I like that the divines made an appearance. I’m sad that Roman had to endure so much.
I’m a tad conflicted about the ending. I almost wish she hadn’t skipped so much? I think I needed to see a bit more of their healing process and reconnecting.
But it did feel like just a normal day in a marriage, so I guess it works haha.
I love this author!

A quasi-World War novel where the people are fighting for Gods instead of nations and magic is part of life in small but beautiful ways.

Basically a 5 star read but I knocked just a tad because I had a hard time staying continuously interested in the story. The last quarter of the book was incredible - I wondered many times how Ross was going to tie up all of the loose ends but she did it masterfully. This was really wonderful and unique fantasy and I think she is an expert storyteller.

This book is simply beautiful... poetic and heartwrenching. I loved the first book but the sequel has earned it's spot in my top ten favorites. Everyone who loves YA , world building and love in all forms should read this.

Oh, this was delightful? It’s not common to find a sequel that’s better than its predecessor, but here I am, 1 am Monday morning, having finished this book like five minutes ago. I must admit that while it was not perfect and there are many things I couldn’t really understand, I found myself just needing to keep reading, I really couldn’t take my eyes off this book. Also, I became a hater the second I read about certain character’s amnesia, since it’s a trope I despise, but I rather liked the way it was handled. This book had the perfect balance between plot, character development and romance, I was THRIVING!! While the ending felt just a tad bit rushed, I did like it a lot. I am sure I will remember these characters fondly, as I ready for battle myself to get the FL editions this week. Wish me luck!!

Top tier beautiful continuation and closing of the first story. More grim dark and worn torn than the cottage core war fantasy of the first book. Pacing slower but not too slow. Everything was carefully built. Still twists where I wasn't expecting and surprises in how events turned out. Liked there was a little more insight to the gods' backstory. I loved how Iris accepted the quest became a hero. I think this a peak example of ordinary people making the choice to say and do things that lead them to become extraordinary. It's also a beautiful love story, full of passion and faithfulness.
