Ahhh this story. I'm currently conflicted because I do not like the story path that it is going down but I know that in the future I will enjoy it. I'm not liking what is happening between Suzume and Mr. Shishio. Mr. Shishio does a lot of contradicting actions which annoy me as a reader. If I were to put myself in Suzume's shoes I would be so confused because he treats her like a student somedays, a neighbour he needs to look out for, and someone that he is interested in romantically. I would be so confused if I was her, and Mr. Shishio doesn't give her the space to move on from her feelings so they are stuck in limbo. My favourite character has got to be Mamura, because he constantly calls out Mr. Shishio saying things like, "A teacher has no business seducing his students." I can't wait to see more of him. I didn't like the ending because it's progressing further down the storyline that I'm not enjoying.
On the plus side, this volume contains a chapter which is not a part of Daytime Shooting Star and I really enjoyed it. I would read if it was it's own manga. I would give that chapter 4/5 stars.

I really do like Shishio, but like fuck!!! Please don't reciprocate feelings for your first year student!!! Like ahhhhh!!! Why?? I want to like the characters and support the romance, but she's like 15 and he's 25. He's her teacher!!! As much as it doesn't feel predatory it still is! Please don't be a creep, Shishio!! Nothing's really happened yet, but they've already started being secretive. Ugh. Idk how to feel.

I’m liking this series less the more I read. Mamura is the only character who seems normal. The fact the teacher got physical with him is insane.

This volume has a short story not related to the series. It features a person of colour who has no colour as the author didn’t have time to add colour to their skin. Poor form, but it’s something that should have been corrected for the physical release.

2022 review
I'm still frustrated with Satsuki in general because he always makes everything a joke. He's as confused and conflicted with the situation as Yosano is (as he should be, ugh), but the way he handles it isn't with maturity, it's this back and forth "I like you," and "just kidding."

if he were a couple years older than Yosano, I'd still find this really annoying, but the fact that he's so much older than her, he should know better. And yet, this frustration with him is the author's entire point to slowly get readers off the idea of Satsuki and onto whoever Yosano will be with next. I think even though the author dances around the teacher-student relationship trope (ick), they still acknowledge its forbidden element and in the end, the author knows they're not actually going to go there.

I love sensei (Satsuki) but I also
HHATE HIMMM!

I hate guys and anyone in general who feel they have the right to make decisions for others. Stop lying to Suzume. That's why you just don't deserve her because you're not honest with her and you're not honest with yourself.
