This is by far the best researched, most extensive account of the Congo Crisis. Essential reading for anyone interested in a history of US foreign policy or Africa.

A good recap of the congo crisis. The book is well researches and written; however, it lacks a critical lense. I was also surprised by the lack of focus on the resource politics.

Thorough but focused on the western perspective, would liked to have seen more detail on the specifics of Lumumba’s leadership that threatened western imperialism and capitalism so much (was discussed but vaguely). Would also have liked to have some perspective from Congolese as the timeline went on.
