Was incredibly slow plot wise, and I found myself bored thoughout most of the book, even during the battle scenes. Parts that should have been longer were incredibly short, and it felt like this whole book was exposition. I found the characters hard to relate to and at times irritating.

I was going to continue on this book (I originally gave myself until the end of the year). However, I decided to stop reading it earlier than planned. I also liked the introduction to other characters perspectives that we encountered in the previous book.

But, personally it’s not worth the significant slog to read them because the start of this book is really good but it becomes stale in the middle.

the middle part of the novel consists of Eragons training with the Elves and, in my option, this should have been cut down to a small montage to keep the story going. <\spoiler>

Very slow but very enjoyable - so nothing out of the ordinary for Paolini’s writing. A good sequel to Eragon with a lot more focus on developing Eragon and looking into more the cultures of some of the other races
yes I mostly just mean the elves, but the Blood-Oath Celebration was so interesting
. The only thing that bothered me was Eragon’s pining after Arya. She made it clear she didn’t want to date him several times, but he kept going
until she literally ended their friendship because of how much it was bothering her
But that’s my only complaint. Everything else was fantastic.

The first third-to-half was a little rough, ngl, I was not very motivated to keep reading, I felt it was sloww. Roran's chapters didn't hold my attention at first, and then it was Eragon's the ones that started to drag. But after the half-way point it really picked up and got good, and I'm easy to please and the ending makes or breaks books/movies/series for me, so if I enjoy the ending I can usually forgive any earlier misgivings lmao, and this books ending is bomb. I remember reading that plot-twist and having my mind blown as a 12 y/o, and even now, 12 years later, I found stuff that I don't remember picking up before, which was very fun. I think Eragon had big character growth during this book, even tho he's a dumbass on some stuff still. He definitely feels older now.

And god am I depressed about him and Murtagh, it's such a tragic situation in which both of them fuck up, and even at the begining of Brisingr Eragon understands Murtagh but still feels betrayed and renegues him as brother...ugh, my kids 😭
