The author looks at the parable of the sower and compares it to biblical dispensations. He notes the four types of ground in the parable and examines the importance of the number four, such as the four seasons. The significance of ripened grain or fruit is the manifestation of spiritual wisdom. Sowing and reaping is the process of personal salvation. Endurance of tribulation is like spiritual birth pangs.

"So the resurrection of the dead will be a resurrection of spirit, an inward transformation by the Spirit of God that will awaken some to righteousness." p. 91
