The story and world are interesting and the ending has a fun twist to it, however this author dearly needs an editor who will wrangle her into writing less big emotional refections about EVERY interaction the main character has. Within these numerous reflections are “poetic” descriptions of the main character’s feelings that serve only to take up space but make it clear that the writer does not trust the reader to understand the last scene. Even so I continue to read because this book puts her in contact with the big shadow daddy we’ve all been waiting for and hopefully now that the main character is done whinging and  has been taught to “believe in herself” and maybe understand the severity of the abusive relationship she’s been in that finally she’ll become a more interesting character beyond her heritage.

This book has kept me going in the series. I’m excited to continue! It is not very plot driven, I believe that future books in the series will be, but this one was more character building than the world building of the first. Auren is a fascinating character, and I loved learning a bit more about her past and how she ended up in 6th kingdom in the first place, and with Midas at all. We also get a glimpse of Queen Malina and learn a bit more about her; which I really enjoyed! Commander Rip…all I have to say is what a foreshadow at the very end!!

I love this book just wish some time passes in between chapters cuz it just picks right up where when chapter ends. Also the writing could be better

This barely had a conflict to it so it was definitely a filler book but wow I could not stop reading. Is this the best literature ever written? No, but I was thoroughly entertained and I love these characters. I can’t wait to read the next one.
