This is the second book of the Brooklyn Kings and it takes us from Mikhail’s compound to Pierce taking Mila. Mila has endured so much in life she is no stranger to pain and torture so when Pierce tries to break her for information she is a steal trap. Pierce isn’t sure how to take Mila at first, all he can see is she is Russian so that makes her an enemy to the family. After what his sister was put through he has no love for anything or anyone Russian so Mila to him is guilty by default the thing is she was treated just as bad and is a victim too. Once Pierce sees Mila won’t break by fear and torture he tries another tactic of making her see her attraction to him. They both went through a lot growing up and Mila trusts no one but when feelings become more can Mila let go of her fear? Will she let her walls down and let Pierce in? Can Pierce see past his hate and realize that there is a lot more to Mila than he originally thought. With enemies rising from different directions can they escape unscathed and will Pierce’s family be accepting of Mila? This book dove deeper in the darkness of the mafia lifestyle and it also showed the reader that some things are not what you first judge them to be until you dig deeper. This series continues to be gripping and has me on the edge of my seat waiting to see what will happen next.

This story is a bit dark but it is sexy as heck and will leave you with a smile. Two damaged souls find each other and love.

The Enemy In My Bed by LK Shaw is an enemies-to-lovers mafia romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Eva Caine and Walker Williams. This is the second book in the Brooklyn Kings series.
This is the second book of LK's that I have read, and it won't be my last. I really enjoyed the relationship that bloomed between Pierce and Mila. I liked that we got both of their points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.
I can't wait for the next book in the series The Beast I Can't Tame to be released on audio so I can get Giovanni and Francesca's story.
Eva and Walker did an amazing job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.
I would recommend this book if you like enemies-to-lovers romances, mafia romances, contemporary romance, or romantic suspense.

This was surprisingly low conflict for a mafia romance, I’d say it falls more into hurt/comfort and miscommunication than an enemies to lovers story, but don’t let that dissuade you. Pierce and Mila were a very sweet couple once they started communicating and got over their inherent (and well earned from traumatic pasts) distrust of one another.

When Pierce goes to check on his captive he’s shocked to find out it’s not a young boy but a women but he’s still determined to get answers ,Mila is strong she’s used to men like Pierce so she won’t cave in as easy as he thinks she will .

Loved Pierce and Mila. I knew how dark he could be but we got to see part of what made him that way and the softness Mila brings out of him as well.
After the rescue of Brenna (read the first book) Pierce takes a hostage. When he gets her to his playroom he realizes that it actually a woman in disguise. She may have information they can use against their enemies. And when intimidation doesn't get him answers he decides seduction will.
Mila wasn't there at the Russian compound by choice. She had gone there to get revenge but when she was discovered she became a prisoner. When she sees Pierce she is sure death has come to finally take her.
When Pierce finally learns the torture she suffered he vows to find the man who first tortured Mila and played mind games with her.

I enjoyed this one, it was definitely enemies to lovers, with some emotional scars and healing.

Oh my god that was so much better than the first book; there was depth, there was angst, there was an effort from both characters to understand each other, it was more than great sex, and they had time to figure it all out. This was redemption! I can’t wait for Gio and Francesca’s book; I feel like they’ll be the true stars of the series.

Honestly took me awhile to get into and I couldn’t connect to this book. Not a fan of the romance or either of the man characters. I just lacked a connection with this.
