Wowee that ending 🤯 wtf we gonna do now?!?! AHHHH
Ok this book had me a bit all over the place, but MAN we went on a JOURNEY!
First half of the book I was thinking it was more gonna be in the 3-4 star territory cause the author got real honed in on her spice scenes to the point of “where tf is the actual plot?” BUT once we made it past that, it was plot twist after plot twist after plot twist (still spicy, but it was more of an embellishment rather than being the entirety of the story) I think I’m more of a fan of the banter and tension of the side characters, rather than the horndogs that are the FMC and MMC.
ANYWHO I really liked travelling to all the new places in the story. Each place felt fully formed and we got big storylines for each place and interesting new cultures and tidbits and even new characters like Zahira and Yaz (PIRATE QUEENS) and the fire Queen Fia! (Interested to hopefully see her and Colden meet again after so long in the next coming books)
But as for characters - Raina is still a cool ass chick. She is really finding herself and realizing her power and it’s cool to see her self discovery.
Alexus, whatta guy. I’m excited to see him be a bit more asshole-ish hopefully in the next book.
Nephele - I’m happy they finally gave her a bit of a personality and I’m QUITE excited to see what happens to her character
Helena and Rohnin - STINKIN CUTIES
Colden - I love his ‘tude.
Finn - eat dirt, sorry 😘
ANYWAYS. Next book is a novella and I’m hyped to delve into it. GAWD idk what the actual fuck is happening next but I’m HYPED! WOOP WOOP!

This was absolutely fantastic! And oof, that cliffhanger...I need the next book immediately! I really have no complaints, but it just needed a little extra something that I can't quite put my finger on to push it to a full 5 stars.
The plot and central conflict with Thamaos and the Prince of the East continued to fully engage me. There really were no dull moments in the book. The characters are multidimensional and we continue to discover new things about them as the series progresses.I thought the destruction of the bond was a nice touch and it rekindled my interest in the relationship between Raina and Alexus. And now that Raina has ended up in the past, I can't wait to see how they fell in love the first time.
I was living for the side romances in this book. We've got Nephele and Neri, Colden and the Price of the East, and Hel and Rhonin. Nephele and Neri is probably my favorite romance in the whole series (especially after reading the third book/novella where their relationship is the main focus). The way she despises him is absolutely delicious, even before we find out it's actually Neri (even though multiple hints were dropped and I should have figured it out long before I did).
I am very interested to see Raina and Nephele learn more about their past and their magic.
In looking back at all my highlights, it's amazing how many Easter eggs the author puts in the book that hint at what's coming.Like when Alexus swears he's loved her all his life and that she "felt -- and tasted -- familiar" and then we get to the ending and Raina has accidentally sent herself back in time. It's so well thought out.
The audiobook is superb. I loved both narrators. I could listen to male narrator forever.
Formats: Kindle (owned), audio (Everand)

I enjoyed this book and all the adventure it provided. It really added to the understanding of who these characters are. In the first book, it was Alexus and Raina attempting to move through the woods. We learned a lot about Alexus and a lot about Raina. Not only did we learn even more, we are also introduced to them in different relationships and situations. Raina interacts with Hel and Nephele differently from how she interacts with Alexus. When Alexus takes them to a place he considers home and introduces them to friends, we see a different side of him. I loved this. The one down side is it caused there to be so many characters to keep track of. That and the new POVs being introduced. I was switching between reading the ebook and listening to the audiobook and the changing POVs made it difficult to track when listening to the audiobook. The narrators needed more variance to define which character they were representing.
What I liked
- Different points of view
- More backstory and exploration of Raina and Nephele’s parents
- They weren’t trapped in the woods for most of the story
What I didn’t like
- What was the point of Finn coming along.
- Not enough training sequences (and I’m not referring to the “spicy” training sesh). I want more training with weapons and powers.

Wish I had more plot and I wish the spicy scenes were a little more rich, slower, savor the moment plots instead of a quicky icky.

Uhm, what?! The cliffhanger did confirm one of the things I was picking up in the book. It was mentioned quite a bit, which made me start to question something. I actually really liked how it did come about. Made sense! In a weird way...Plot twist!
At any rate, I really enjoyed the book. I give it maybe a 4.5, but the book was lonnnnggg. It was kind of necessary in ways because of the multiple POV, but it was still really long. The pacing was a little meandering at points, but it needed it for the romances.
I definitely enjoyed Alexus and Raina more in this book, but I'm also such a sucker for a good romance. Not to mention the other unfolding romances. I can't wait for the next ("novella") book, which definitely set you up for it in this book.
