Kai Miller works for a cruise ship. While out on a cruise, a hurricane blows through causing the cruise ship to set port for safety in Daily, Texas. Kai can’t wait for the hurricane to pass, so she can get moving again. Kai is not one to stick around in one place too long. Kai may have a change of heart when she meets good looking Kemp Eldridge. In addition to what plans Aunt Donetta has cooked up for Kai.

This book sounded good but for me, I never really became fully immersed in the book or the characters. Though, I thought Kai seemed nice. I could see why Kai felt an attraction to Kemp. He is handsome and the kind of guy you know you could he safe with. The people of Daily, Texas are friendly and down to earth. If only Daily, Texas was real. Each chapter alternates between Kai and Donetta. I wish I could say I liked this book as it seemed that other readers did. One thing I can say is that I will Never Say Never about giving Mrs. Wingate a second chance.

Never say Never by Lisa Wingate
Love the authors seaglass sisters and prayer box so I know this will be another good story.
The women ran the beauty shop and before they turned 70 they decided to go on a cruise. It's hurricane season also...
Chapters alternate between the women and their side of how they are preparing for the cruise with the oncoming hurricane....
Besides the current up to date lives of the three women the chapters also go back in time to relive those memories which have a bearing on what's happening currently.
Loved hearing how they survived during the hurricane, never giving up...
Love to hear what the storms leave on the shores that can be put into jewelry and wind chimes, etc...

I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

I love Lisa Wingate's books and this one didn't disappoint. The characters we already knew were there with a few delightful new ones thrown in! Love this series!

I very rarely will read books that have a religious bent to them, especially
if I fear the author is going to pound the pulpit and riffle her Bible in my
face. So I've no idea what possessed me to read this book. What's really
even more surprising to me is that I enjoyed it. This book is squeaky clean
for those of you who take that into consideration when deciding what you
will read.

You are immediately introduced to three charming older women. They're all
going to take a cruise for the first time in their lives. Donetta Bradford,
the colorful and delightful main character, has a husband who hasn't said a
loving word or engaged in a loving act in years. His fishing, his TV, and
his recliner are pretty much all that matter, and she's crushed by that in
some ways, but determined to take the cruise. Her friends, Imagene and
Lucy, are somewhat less developed characters, but they are equally
delightful in their own right.

Donetta bought a fancy new computer, found the cruise line's web page, and
just let the machine sit there for days connected to that page. It showed
the weather and the time the ship was to leave port.

But a storm is coming, and eventually there's no denying that. Kai Miller,
a cruise ship employee who yearns for stability and love, is slated to be on
the same ship as the three aging friends. The three would-be cruisers know
nothing of Kai, but the hurricane and evacuation adventures are all about to
change that.

Donetta's nephew, Kemp, is a minor league baseball player who, because of
injuries, has come home to the small town of Daily, Texas to coach baseball
at the local high school and pray he heals enough to get back into the real
game.

The storm ultimately brings Kai and the three women together, and they all
return to Daily, complete with some harrowing adventures. That's where Kai
meets Kemp, and things get fun and exciting from there.

Here's the thing: This book does get a little aggressively preachy in parts
for me, at least. And yet, you can't help but fall in love with Kai Miller
immediately upon her introduction, and you simply are drawn in if only to
find out how she ultimately turns out.

There is some delightful humor here, too; Kai is left in charge of her
landlord's dogs, and they cause more than their share of laugh-out-loud
moments. This is a gentle read whose theme is love, second chances, and
redemption. The most unreligious among us will find this one relatively
easy to take, and those who enjoy a bit of Christianity tossed into their
book recipe to season it a bit will be delighted with this.

Wingate is a master of dialogue. Donetta Bradford's speech patterns are wonderful. It's
Dan Rather at his most Texas magnified several times over.

 Daily Texas #3
Genre: Contemporary Christian Romance, Inspirational, Women's Fiction
Featuring: Small Town Texas 40 minutes from Killeen, Dual POVs, Road Trip, Hurricane, Evacuees, Family Secrets, Stepping Out of Comfort Zones, Discussion Questions
Rating as a movie: PG-13 for adult situations
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐½
My thoughts: Page 19 of 348 - This is exciting already. I'm thrilled to learn Donetta will have a POV in this book. I think the I loved Imagene's POV more than Mandalay's in the first book and that's what was missing in the second book. Heck, she had me sold at cruise! 🛳
97 - This so cruel! Got me all hot for a cruise and I'm stuck on a road trip. 😒 I need to get out of this car and I'm actually in a bed. 8 chapters down and all feature driving or riding in a van. 😞
120 - I don't like it. Lol. I'm hope there is a scene change in the next chapter.
 146 - Nothing yet!
221 -  I am not saying that this isn't a good book, it's decent enough. I'm just saying that you don't offer a reader a cruise trip and then take it away. I'm going to keep reading but if there is not a cruise vacation before the end of this book I'm gonna be really upset. 😡
This story was more heartfelt than the previous books. It was a little slower paced but what bothered me and cost it an entire star, because it affected my enjoyment of the storyline, was I thought I was going on a vacation and instead I spent the entire book dealing with a hurricane party. I do not want to read about trying to find gas because a storm is coming after I've got my mind set on a cruise. I think if I had not been hearing this trip being planned since the first book I would have able to move on, but since they talked about it through 3 books, I was ready. What replaced the cruise was not pleasant and gave me dreadful flashbacks of traffic and empty gas stations.
Recommend to others?: Maybe. The story was sweet enough but not my favorite.

Enjoyable with good message. Not my favorite if the three but still good. Hope there is a fourth so Imagene and Frank can get together.

Never Say Never by Lisa Wingate is the third book to feature the quirky and charming small town of Daily, Texas. Kai Miller has never really called any place home, but when a hurricane blows her out of her apartment to Daily, she considers making the move permanent, especially when she meets Kemp Eldridge the idea is even more appealing. I love the old women at the heart of Daily: Donetta, Imagene, and Lucy. There friendship and antics keep the series both amusing and grounded through their faith. Donetta has some secrets that the hurricane brings to light as well. Wingate perfectly captures small town life with all of its rumors, suffocating proximity, and quirky characters, but she never falls into the trap many other authors do of making small towns too cutesy to be real. Kai is heartbreakingly fragile in her desire to belong and be loved, and the residents of Daily are the perfect solution. I hope to visit Daily, Texas again soon.

Perfect timing for Lisa Wingate’s delightful novel! I found the characters loveable, hysterical and familiar. I laughed aloud at times and enjoyed all the twists and turns the story takes.

Thoroughly enjoyed this one. Didn't realize it was part of a series so will have to go back and read the first 2. A pretty light read but great nonetheless.
