I read this book base on a recommendation….I don’t like 3rd person stories and I’m not sure how I finished this. The story line was decent. So many tropes were introduced to me in this book. I won’t read another from this author if all the books are in 3rd person though.

Another fantastic Last Rider book by Jamie Begley. The member dynamics of the Last Riders never ceases to amaze me. Lucky, one of the original eight, has always kept me wondering how a man of the cloth could fit in with such "sinners". Turns out he wondered himself. Lucky started his journey as a chaplain saving soldiers. He became a seal to save more. His need to save and protect is deep but he wants to be free to be. He wants Willa, but doesn't think he deserves such a good christian that doesn't even swear. There is another reason for Lucky to stay away, he needs to protect her. Willa fears and desires Pastor Dean, AKA Lucky. She is so innocent, that she doesn't understand her feelings. Lucky's choice is the dance of love between Lucky and Willa. There are so many challenges-- religious, the female hanger-ons, sexual innocence, Lucky's inner conflict, I was amazed at how well the author was able to find resolution for the couple. The story is full of emotion and satisfaction for me. One of the female members will be voted out (it was a long time coming). A Hanger-on is kicked out. Timing makes them blame Willa, an innocent. Even when they verbally abuse her; she still sees the good in them. Watching Willa grow kept me reading until I reached the end. Thankfully all of the characters are in every book. They keeping coming back for more.

Although Willa was a little on the weak side, I loved the book. It's such a relief that the Last Riders resolved that internal problem they had going on. I was on my last nerve.

My faith is restored!!!

Lucky and Willa's story was such a beautiful story. It was not always sunshine and rainbows. It showed that a relationship takes trust, faith and love. I love the faith Willa had to put herself in Lucky's arms. I loved it!

What did I just read?

First and foremost - you have to read the previous books in the series otherwise you won't have any idea what the heck is going on with this one. That being said, I didn't read the previous books and so I had no idea what the heck was happening, what had happened, or who were some people.

Second - there was a lot of sleeping around by the MMC - which is alright considering he is an adult, but some scenes were unnecessary. We got it, he likes to "play" and btw, he is also a pastor... or was he? I felt he was undercover and liked the profession... I am not sure.

Third - the MFC is like a doormat with a little spark... kind of like a Christmas doormat. I don't even know why she put up with him and the rest of the people from the club. She was always being nice and thoughtful and EVERYONE treated her like shit. Girl! get out of there and stop trying to be nice. They are horrible people!!!!

Anyways... a bad plot with lovely writing.

October 2019: This one started off slow for me this time around but I still loved the book by the end.

January 2018: Lucky doesn’t come off as nice at the start but what Last Rider does. He is one of my favorites and that’s the case even through rereads.
