Amazing story with loads of really carefully curated world building that is very immersive and interesting to learn about. The characters are brilliantly written and I love their dynamics and the wide variety of things they stand for Aparna approaches serious political topics that are happening in our world in w really approachable but insightful way in this story that just about anyone can understand and digest.
AND THE ENDING OMG

Overall it was a great debut novel!!! Personally I got a little overwhelmed in the last 3rd of the book.

I think the betrayal should’ve been much bigger, I personally think she got over it a little too quick, I feel like Elena would’ve been MUCH more devastated. And I wish the “ore” was foreshadowed/mentioned a little more throughout the book, maybe to see the “ore” after it’s been forged and in use? I wanted to be in on the conspiracy a little sooner.

As a whole, I really enjoyed this story and the characters. It had me crying and cheering and yelling! Really awesome debut… but Yassen better be okay!!!!!!
