A very quick read only for die-hard Castle fans (the show, the author is fake). It acts like a long episode, with slight twists to the regular characters. There are several references to things that happened in season one, if you're looking for them.

The most interesting part is that this book contains what Richard Castle thinks/hopes would happen if he and Beckett found themselves romantically linked.

If you like the show Castle, you will love the first Nikki Heat book. It reads very much like an episode of Castle but even better.

Not bad. I'll likely read the next ones because the mystery wasn't bad. Very similar to the television series. Alright for something to read but no where near a literary masterpiece. Which I don't think is what the author was going for.

By the way, if Nathan Fillion read the audiobooks this story would be 100 times better.

Aside from the novelty of reading the book Richard Castle has rolling around in his imagination, it wasn't a stellar read. It's okay for fans of the show, but as for a real novel, I found it lacked originality.

This book is a blast from the past, and one that I have as a hardcover but I am reading it as an eBook from the library because it’s easier with baby boy. Published in 2009 by “Richard Castle,” HEAT WAVE tells the story of Jameson Rook, a journalist and Nikki Heat, the NYPD Homicide Detective he is shadowing for a new article. The characters are inspired by the fictional characters of the CASTLE tv show which ran on ABC for 8 years, and in this first instalment, Rook and Heat have to try and solve a homicide while a vicious heat wave grips the city and grows between them as well. It is a super fun read, based on one of my favourite TV shows, and if you’re looking for a good mystery then this is the one for you.

Fiquei desiludida. Esperava mais.

Particularly fun when imagining it narrated by Nathan Fillion
