This is such a wonderful premise, and the writing is strong if you like this sort of thing. And by this sort of thing I mean the reflections of a fairly out of touch white woman with lots of privilege telling you about her wonderful life. I don't like that sort of thing right now so I had to put the book down.
I came into this one expecting it to be a history book, but found it to essentially be an autobiography with some historical inserts. Not at all what I was expecting, but an interesting read nonetheless. Some insightful meditations on what it was and is to be a woman exploring the world around her.
Lacks focus at times. But I can confidently say it gave me lot of material to think about the relationship between women and public space.
