It started to feel hard to understand the connection between the subject of each chapter, the actual topic of the book, and the author’s own life

Forgot to bring the book to uni with me

This is such a wonderful premise, and the writing is strong if you like this sort of thing. And by this sort of thing I mean the reflections of a fairly out of touch white woman with lots of privilege telling you about her wonderful life. I don't like that sort of thing right now so I had to put the book down.

I came into this one expecting it to be a history book, but found it to essentially be an autobiography with some historical inserts. Not at all what I was expecting, but an interesting read nonetheless. Some insightful meditations on what it was and is to be a woman exploring the world around her.

Lacks focus at times. But I can confidently say it gave me lot of material to think about the relationship between women and public space.
