This is a collection of short stories of Team Avatar throughout their journey. From fun side quests to bending training to learning more about side characters such as Mai and Ty Lee, it's a great way to flesh out the entire world. Although I personally prefer some of the post-show comics that are more focused on rebuilding the world, this is a great detour for anyone that's a fan. This collection does feature various artists, so you'll get a bunch of different art styles as you read through.

I love Avatar and I like reading everything about this world. In this graphic novel, there are stories about team Aang. These stories are from the timeline of the animation series. They give a feeling like little filler parts of episodes. Almost every story was drawn by different artists and authors. I enjoyed the reading experience and it felt nostalgic. But I didn’t like this book as the other books in this series.

A collection of different Avatar short stories, some a brief as two pages to slightly more fleshed out moments that you can see easily slotting in the series. The best of the bunch was "Going Home Again" Aaron Ehasz, who wrote for the series itself, explaining how Zuko and Mai's relationship started. That was a five star read.

Alison Wilgus's stories were also pitch perfect, including the fun Sokka and Zuko sword match. Johane Matte's "Relics" provided a somber insight to Aang's unresolved grief with losing his entire people. But most of the stories trended to comedy and humor, as they were intended to be read in serial magazines by people who may not be huge Avatar fans, which is why I assume the kids almost never use pseudonyms when they're supposed to be hiding from the Fire Nation.

The clunkers were usually by Gene Luen Yang, like "Sisters" that felt abrupt and out of of character for Ty Lee, but I found most of his Avatar work to not work with me. Dave Roman's "New Recruits" felt like fanfic with random characters that could shadowbend and cookie dough bend. But, like the good stories, they are usually so short they don't overstay their welcome.

A nice addition for an already converted Avatar fan, and some of these stories make good silly introductions for those without the attention span. 3.5 rounded up. Some real gems make it worthwhile compared to other Avatar comics and a large amount of the art is gorgeous with only a few eyesores.

*received a review copy on Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review- thank you! this does not affect my opinions or my review in any way.*

As an avid Avatar fan, I loved this volume! Admittedly, I realized partway through that I've read these comics (many years) before in their original volumes. However, I enjoyed these comics all the same. It was a fun look at what happened to Team Avatar in between the TV episodes, in short, digestible, and fun vignettes.

I also loved the art in these comics! Since they're a variety of short comics from different artists and authors, I enjoyed seeing the variety of art styles. Additionally, I loved the look at the exclusive behind-the-scenes cover art drafts; as an artistic person, I appreciate seeing the creative process behind this universe.

Not only is this volume convenient in its bundled form, but it cohesively ties in with the TV show in the way it gives us hints about the beloved world and characters of Avatar, along with behind the scenes info. Overall, I'd recommend this volume for any fan of Avatar!
