“Behind every exquisite thing that existed, there was something tragic.”
"Lying on the floor was a dead man, in evening dress, with a knife in his heart. He was withered, wrinkled and loathsome of visage. It was not until they examined the rings that they recognized who he was."
I MEAN COME ON? Thats a satisfying ending to a story whose protagonist is so incredibly unlikeable that every bad thing that happens to him (through his own faults, though he denies it) is a cause of celebration.
Even so, you cannot help but feel bad for the naive boy he was, being corrupted by Lord Henry and everyone around him making excuses and exeptions for him because of his looks.
Really puts morals, good VS evil and vanity into relation to art of any kind.

I wish I had the mental capacity and patience to actually take in the writing in this book but it’s just too old for me.
A lot of it definitely went over my head but I understood the overall premise?
Not the most enjoyable read but I’m glad I gave it a chance.

This book was never really on my radar, but I joined an online book club and it was last month’s read. To say that I was taken by this book would be an understatement, I went in blind to be completely honest and really had zero clues on what Dorian Gray was about.
Of course it being written by Wilde, it was so beautifully descriptive and I thought eloquently penned. This book changed me, not only with certain quotes but with just how Wilde presented his words.
