Re-read. I definitely remember enjoying this more the first time, but I still am in awe of Dorothy Porter's skill and execution in writing a murder mystery completely in verse. A beautifully written text with diverse characters and an interesting plot.

Between a 2.5-3/5; Again not my type of book but a very different and interesting one to read in an hour or so. After reading the classic hard boiled private detective crime novel The Big Sleep this was quite unique, considering the Australian setting, the lesbian protagonist and the story being told through poems

Three stars for its original concept, but this book has too many ideas and doesn't execute the conceit especially well.

Yes yes yes! Absolutely a 5 star read and I’m so glad to have stumbled across this at the end of last year. Jill, Diana, what a story, I could read about their sex in poetry for literal days!! Dorothy Porter I love you!
