I wanted to loved this book so badly!! I adore Mary Shelley and all things Frankenstein and his monster. I love dark and brutal and deep stories. I love morally questionable characters and eery plot lines. But this book fell so flat for me. It didn't make me feel ANYTHING. I was bored almost the entire time and kept check to see how many pages I had left until I could be done. I sadly felt no connection to this book or it's characters whatsoever, which made me not care what happened. Plus, it took a good 125 pages of this 300 page book for anything to happen in the first place. Justine was timid to the point of ridiculous, Elizabeth was a manipulative and callous annoyance, and Victor Frankenstein...my god, he was ruined. 😭 In Frankensetin, he was such a problematic, complex, genius of a character. In White's book, he was just a tantrum throwing dick with a God complex. Mary was the only saving grace of this book, and I only think we get to see her (maybe) 50 pages of the book. *sigh* I wanted to love it, guys. I wanted to love it so badly.

Creepy and brooding. Read this before reading Frankenstein in the original (at least as far as I remember) and it was still great. Victor is just so foreboding but the extent of his evil is slowly drawn out. Poor Elizabeth.

This one started really slow and felt repetitive. Then at about chapter 14 the story really began and I couldn't stop. I had to know what happened next.

I gave this book 3 1/2 stars (unfortunately you cant do half stars). I found this story outlines the desperate, deceited and conniving truth behind Elizabeth Frankenstein. The whole way through this story all she can focus on is herself and saving her future by using others and she doesn't really leave this self centred frame of mind until karma kicks her in the scheming butt. Then she goes on a journey to repent but nothing is ever that easy. You don't get much of a feel for the other characters in the same way you do for Elizabeth but the interactions are pretty well done.

“yo sabía lo que era estar corrompido hasta la médula, ocultar dientes afilados tras una sonrisa serena”
para amantes de Frankenstein, este libro va más allá de lo esperado.
