Last week I had a lot of fun with the first book in this series and although I have gotten a few new books that I also terribly wanted to read I also wanted to dive into the second book in this series. Eventually reading the second book in the Lyon Fox series won out. Partly because I had a slight headache today and Denton has the perfect lay out to make reading a calmer and better experience, even when I'm not feeling too well.

Once more this book was simply a lot of fun. I really enjoy this world, where everything is possible, where you can encounter every kind of creature and species you can come up with, where those people are all living together, loving together, mingling and having surprisingly human issues. At times it can be a little overwhelming, all the names and mythology, but I already had way less trouble with following than I had in the first book.

I had more issues with following the case. Mostly because there were so many people present, so many characters involved and so many possible angles to look from. However, since it was quite clear that the characters actually having to solve the case had the same issue I just buckled up and enjoyed the ride. And eventually that was rewarded, because I quite liked the final outcome of the case and how everything was wrapped up.

The true star of the story and the series is our heroine though. I like how she is, even though she's not a human, so clearly human. She has flaws, she has insecurities, she has doubts, she has this need to prove herself. Even though she is totally connecting dots I don't see and even though she's clearly even more intelligent than I am I like how relatable it makes her. Which also makes her easy to like and to love. I can't wait to read the rest of her journey!
