A collection of quick stories about a young girl growing up in generic Africa. These are written in a regular English style (not the broken English of Atinuke's No. 1 Car Spotter) and represent middle to upper class life. The most compelling stories in this collection were about Anna trying to avoid the weekly family braiding and then Anna visiting the poor side of town.

I liked this one a lot more than the first one. That one was fun, but this one was fabulous! I loved the lessons in each story. One chapter taught about how Anna and her family have to take care of their hair because it is different than ours. Others were about Anna observing poverty in the city and helping others. They were obvious lessons, but not overly preachy. The chapter where the family bought a generator for Eve thinking and talking. Usually when the power went out, they spent time together telling stories and laughing. But once they got the generator, they had electricity all the time and never were forced to have those nights with no power, which also meant they didn’t have nights full of stories and laughter. Eve has lots of thoughts about balancing important chores and fun family time. I really enjoyed this one!
