I love Erin Faith Hick’s art style so much and the story it self was very entertaining. There is so much sarcasm, wit , and energy in each character which hooked me into the story. I wish I could be friends with all these people in real life

This is a very generous 4-star rating, mostly because I love Faith Erin Hicks' art. These characters are all so CUTE and she does some stunning wordless multi-frame exploded scenes--the basketball scene and the cheerleader pencil-snapping scene were absolutely awesome.

But the plot is very thin, and the conflicts are not all that believable or worrisome. It tries to do something interesting with the nerd vs. jock thing, but it doesn't really accomplish much.

Still an easy and fun read for a graphic novel enthusiast looking for some quick entertainment.

This is a great graphic novel for high school. A funny poke at cliques and a realistic look at the fallout of family breakups.
This pits the geeks against the cheerleaders and then shows them finally working together. Very funny, with a touch of pathos.

I was surprised that Nolan let so many people push him around but then again, I think he was in a weird position where he was basically taking care of himself as a teenager as both his parents put other priorities first in their lives. I thought his mother, in particular, was wrong. But that’s only one part of this kind of “everything and the robot sink” story.
The rivalry with the cheerleaders, the robot competition, the student body president election, it was just all there. Plus the parental abandonment!
Anyway, I liked it but I’m not in love with it. It was a nice distraction from my Russian dystopian sci-fi novel.

Easily the funniest graphic novel I have read all year. This had me cracking up! The art is fantastic, the characters are perfectly developed, this is great. 10/10

While this may be mildly entertaining for high school or middle school students, especially those who like to build robots, there didn't appear to be much of a resounding message or much real depth of characterization or emotion. Just ok.
