"Nel mezzo del cammin della vera vita, eravamo circondati da una malinconia oscura, che tante parole tristi e beffarde hanno espresso, nel caffè della gioventù perduta"

I found this book to be a little confusing at first, because there are four different perspectives with only small breaks between them.

The Cafe Conde is where a group of young Parisians: writers, philosophers, students gather daily to escape the world, and search for the meaning of life. We walk through the streets of Paris with them and peak into their lives.

Years later the narrators are looking back at that time focusing on one young woman, Louki who is their companion at the Conde.

I really liked Modiano's writing and look forward to reading more of his works.
