I have a confession: I’ve never read a Spider-Man comic before. I’ve read a few things things with Spider-Man as a supporting character--New Avengers, Daredevil—but never a dedicated Spider-Title. I came to the Spiders in a slightly backwards fashion. First was Spider-Woman, which started up during the midst of the Spider-Verse event and mostly incoherent mess as a result. Then came the sweetheart of the moment, Spider-Gwen. And now, here I am, finally getting around to a Spider book with -Man on the cover.

The contents of this volume are five separate one-shot stories spotlighting the different Spiders of the multiverse. Each tale is told by a different writer/artist team, and they range from future-tech to Gwen to noir to downright freaking creepy. Each installment ends with our Spider of the moment stumbling into part of a bigger ‘verse, and each has its own quick pace and unique voice that makes it delightfully readable.

So, yeah, I’ve never read a Spider-Man comic before. I suppose, technically, I still haven’t, even though his name’s on the cover. But this collection makes me want to go track down a few Spider-Man GNs and dive in. And for that, it gets a 4.5 star rating.

Entertaining collection of other Spider-verses (especially the Spider Gwen, and SP//DR).

A collection of stories featuring alternate realities where Spider-Man turned out quite different. I'd already read the one featuring Spider-Gwen but enjoyed the others in this collection as well. A great read if you're sick of seeing the Spider-Man origin story told over and over again in the same way.

Meh. Like a short story collection. Some good some bad. Just something picked at the library

Great little anthology miniseries that I could easily continue reading. Please do a "Tales of Spider-Verse" where nothing is connected, just different adventures of the Spider Totems of the multiverse!

I don't read a lot of Marvel comics, much less Spider-Man--the continuity is so dense and sometimes esoteric that wading in can seem daunting--but this volume was great! Here, I already had a level of familiarity with all but one of the variant Spider-people, thanks to the inimitable Into the Spiderverse movie from several years ago. I would recommend this book to anyone with a passing interest in any Friendly Neighborhood Spidey

Each story was very short, giving only a glimpse into the characters rather than a full arch. I liked the variation though and seeing the styles of different writers and artists
