this has gotta be one of the best bsd light novels, and i don’t say this lightly, man. stormbringer went so hard that i read it twice and am planning on reading it again!!! but ughhh this one was sooooo good. (spoilers, lol). i could really resonate with the ln’s theme of not being able to tell what is actually happening in your life and what you’ve created in your head, and the way they explore this through atsushi and gab’s characters as kinda foils to each other was sick as hell imo. the concept that abilities and the humans who wield them are two completely different beings was super interesting to me!! the way gab was unable to stop himself from repeating the timeline over and over again, trying to achieve perfection, and eventually lost his humanity to his ability because of it and how atsushi has to grapple with never being able to tell what’s really himself and what’s his ability was so ughhhhhhhhh (in a good way). i absolutely adore all of the other light novels and really enjoy the closer look into different characters that they give us, but i feel like this one felt like more of a thought provoking story compared to all of the others, and it was amazing :))

This has to be one of my favourite BSD light novels, second only to Stormbringer. It was fast-paced, brutal and absolutely gripping, with a satisfying ending. Even if you have only just started BSD, you will easily be able to follow along.

I really loved this light novel. It was so good, and I loved seeing more of Atushi since the other ones have been focused on before him. I also loved atsushi and akutagawa interacting. It made me so sad and happy at the same time that everyone worked so hard to save dazai and they all had a plan to resuscitate him if he were to die.
