This is my least favorite of the Elm Creek Quilt series that I’ve read. I enjoyed the multiple narrators (characters in the story) perspectives of what was happening but too much of the book was predictable. I also, as always, loved the importance of friendship as a key theme but felt like the plot was just a bit contrived. Still worth reading but I think The Runaway Quilt is the best of the series thus far.

I probably didn't like this 6th in the series as much as I liked the first 5, but I'm still giving it 4 stars because I absolutely love the series. Something I particularly noticed in this book is that time moves on. It's several years since the setting of first novel, and that's excellent. Some series, so many things happen (like in a soap opera) that you end up not relating to any of it, but in Elm Creek time moves on as it should.

The main theme of this one is the way things change in groups of friends - people moving away (or considering it), routines that become hindrances to a continuance of close bonds of friendship. There is also a focus on a few of them women and their personal lives and relationships, and a very unpleasant jealousy.

I was a little thrown when the author moved from the first character (as a chapter title) to the second. It went back in time to the beginning of the first character's story, but it took me a little confusion before that was clear to me. Once I'd got it though, I was perfectly happy when the next ones did the same. Perhaps a date might have helped. ... Other than that, I settled very comfortably into this book.

Like the other Elm Quilt books, this one is heartwarming and easy to read. The author has a gift for capturing the true sense of relationships. The story is the same throughout the book, but each chapter is the same basic story told from the viewpoint of different people. At the end, it all comes together well, as you'd expect. Predictable, but heartwarming all the same.

I have read this series in order (of course, right?!) but this book could easily stand alone and still have only one or two spoilers if someone went back and started from the beginning. The author continues to develop the main characters with only a few additions this time. This is my favorite of the series thus far. Enjoy!

Another great book from Jennifer Chiaverini! I wish she would write more books in this series.

Lots of decisions were made in this book, and some of the characters weren't very nice.

This is one of the best series books out there, whether you like to quilt or not. When the characters tell their stories you get lost into their lives. That is the art of this writer.
