This book was ok. Just ok. There were some good stories, one or two really great ones but most were dreadful, not scary and rather gross without any reason.
I didn't walk away from this with a very good impression of Datlow's editorial capabilities.
This might be for you, but not for me
Also - Shout out to Stephen Gallagher's "Shepherds Business" which is easily the best story in the book.

Despite all the big names in this collection, and the it's literally supposed to be "the best of the best" over a whole ten years of horror short story writing...I did not connect with very many of these stories.
My favourite was definitely "The Moraine" by Simon Bestwick. I thought it had a great atmosphere. Literally mist and monsters. Kinda felt like a classier, UK version of [b:The Ruins|21726|The Ruins|Scott Smith|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1432679747l/21726._SX50_.jpg|2453000].
