3.5 - parts of this book were exactly what I was looking for as a person who enjoys classical music but knows very little about it. Other parts were oriented more toward memoir or more obscure musical things that didn't quite hold my interest.

Audiobook narrated by the author who has a great reading voice.
I enjoyed this but I think I would have taken more away if I had a physical copy I could flip back and forth in, and reread. Also I rented it as a library book which means the PDF she refers to that accompanies the book was sadly not available to me.

There are a lot of ideas in here. It’s a good jumping off place for this world.

An incredibly engrossing and clever book, about the complex world of classical music. Ms. Warsaw Fan Rauch gets incredibly honest about how the classical music world doesn’t always imbue love for the genre with the way they train young musicians, but she succeeds in communicating how powerful and everlasting this music is in a charming and humorous way.

This was a funny book! I liked all the jokes and it was pretty informative, but I wish I could access the index and lists and such

Interesting and educational. I would have preferred less humor and more factual information, but since the book is also the author's own story of her classical journey, the personal touch would be lost if it was changed.
Declassified introduces the different types of classical, and suggests many works to listen to as well. It does not dive into music theory; you will have to look elsewhere. Overall, I think it covers the general genre of classical music well.

Part music history, part memoir, full of witty writing. Reading this book took me back to my violin playing days!

I loved this book. Think Mary Roach, but on music. It was awesome. Conversational, informative and hilarious. I know about as much as the average person when it comes to classical music and I honestly grabbed this book cause the cover was so bright and fun. I LOVED this. I learned a ton, but in the 'my best friend told me' kinda way, and enjoyed the author's personal story of her journeys in the world of classical music. 100 % recommended!!!
