First off cover is absolutely stunning but story is clichéd I checked out after one death like was that necessary but moving on. I liked siblings dynamic even though book is more plot than characters. Just ok in my opinion

4 Stars. This was beautiful and eerie, I felt like a fly stuck in Sutherlands web. There was a slow build up, but thinking back I can now see the small hints hidden along the way. The atmosphere was haunting, an excellent combination of horror and femininity/beauty. I don’t usually go for spooky books, however, because this was written as a dark fairytale I felt it was easy for me to get into the story. There were some predictable twists, but for the most part I was surprised by what happened. There are some scenes which have been replaying in my mind since I finished the book, and I think they’ll be there for a while. I liked Iris’s POV, she felt grounded even as her worldview slipped away from her. Overall, I really liked this book and am eager to see if Sutherland is planning on writing a sequel.

Perfectly creepy and fantastical. Just the kind of book I was in the mood for.

I love re-reading this book! It's well paced, mysterious, and I love the detail in it. i thought the twist would be boring, but I was actually kinda shocked at it. the only thing other thing I want is for the otherworld to be explored more, maybe in a sequel?!

Beautifully written - if a bit repetitive in descriptions.
Unique take on purgatory, or at least unlike anything I've read.
I wish there was more to the story of who Grey, Vivi, and Iris were before...it felt a bit like a cop-out for the author to abandon a backstory/motive for Grey to have done what she did, and unfortunately, I saw the reveal that was actually presented, coming relatively early on. A backstory was vital to maintain surprise for me as a reader, so it was disappointing for Grey to "not remember".
