This was an enemies to lovers, grumpy/sunshine, opposites attract, fake dating romance between two engineers. Lina is vivacious and a little flighty, Aaron is serious. He offers to play fake boyfriend to Lina and accompany her to her sister’s wedding, but it turns real along the way. Lina’s family are big and loud, and they add colour to the story. I wasn’t convinced about either the FMC or the MMC as Lina annoyed me a bit and Aaron was two dimensional. He was also super possessive and it came out of nowhere?  The book was just okay.

There was nothing wrong with the story, it just wasn't meshing with me right now, so I decided to put it down.

1.5

(Copied and pasted from my Goodreads review)

My official rating is 1.5 stars. Rosie only really acted like a friend at the end. Aaron is forceful, possessive in the worst way and demanding. Lina really just needs therapy. My biggest problem with this is the ownership of Lina. Both of them keep assuring the other that they belong to them which would be kind of cute if Aaron didn't physically pick her up all the time as if she cant walk and if he didn't decide so many things for her.

Lina knows Gerald is a racist sexist pig and yet she's shocked when he gets angry at her sleeping with her new boss? You really thought Gerald of all people would be on board with that? Running away is fine she didn't want her professional colleagues to see her cry but to IMMEDIATELY dump Aaron because of a guy she knew wouldn't approve in the first place is so incredibly dumb. Almost like she never wanted to date Aaron because of unresolved trauma from Daniel. She works a nice job she could have absolutely afforded therapy.

There were a few parts that sounded like a 12yr old's Wattpad fanfic but contrastingly the second to last chapter just sounded like inspirational word vomit. It was so cheesy and bad that I'm actually surprised the book isn't sold with a babybel. Peak Aaron was when he was meeting the family he just went downhill after that.

Also 97% of the plot happens in the last 5 chapters. You should probably just stick to those 5.

Loved how they tackled things like sexist assholes in workplaces. Also loved the portrayal of both Lina and Aaron’s trauma and how they opened up to each other.

DNF. It just got increasingly sexual and vulgar towards the end which completely ruins a lighthearted read. I also think the graphic nature of some of these scenes should have warranted a warning, I tried skipping through the scenes, for my own personal reasons, but ended up just ending the book where I was at. Why? Because I’m sure it’s the same enemies to lovers cliche that there’s a misunderstanding and they break up but eventually get back together and I don’t need to trudge through chapters of ick to get there. Also, I did not like how possessive and demanding the love interest was - I’m sure that’s because it’s a sexual fantasy of some kind but I just, BLEH. I didn’t find either main character likable. I think my favorite character was the mom, maybe TJ. This reading experience soured me, I feel like it was built up to be such a good book and then heavily relied on cursing and sex to sell. If you want to read a book similar to this without the graphic nature (smut), I recommend The Unhoneymooners (fade to black) and I’m still looking for sex-free options.

Edit: Someone said Aaron is the reason they raised their standards for men and I am sobbing. 😭 What planet do we live on now? I don’t want to be here anymore. Good men exist, and they are not love-bombing, possessive, borderline stalkers like Aaron. “But he really loves her!” No- he’s obsessed with her! Find better, don’t settle for the first guy who says he’ll do anything for you, or the second, or the third. 🙄 Know your worth.
