Różnorodność bohaterów, sytuacji i kontekstów kulturowych opowiadań w książce jest bardzo duża, co jednak nie wprowadza poczucia natłoku i zagubienia, a wzmaga apetyt czytania.
Bardzo podoba mi się też inkluzywność opowiadań pojawiają się bohaterowie nieheteronormatywni, wyznający różne religie, itd.
Opowiadania są krótkie, wciągające i nieoczywiste, ukazują zmiany, które zachodzą w człowieku, w systemie jego wartości, pod wpływem różnych doświadczeń życiowych i upływającego czasu.
Książka jest bogato zaopatrzona w przypisy wyjaśniające nieznane czytelnikowi stroje, zwyczaje czy dania, można się przez to też wiele nauczyć.
Jeżeli lubisz oryginalne historie trzymające w napięciu i zwroty akcji, które trudno przewidzieć, to książka dla Ciebie.

Ministry of Moral Panic by Amanda Lee Koe is a deeply enchanting collection of short stories. Penned with pellucid deftness, her stories ache with themes of forbidden and/or unrequited love and lust.
Ms Lee is unafraid to push boundaries on the page. She stretches her characters out of the canvas of their stereotypes, and places in them the desire to rise above their condition. To fulfill motivations that are sometimes emotional, sometimes rational, sometimes fetishistic. The moral lines are blurred for mostly characters, but their intentions are clear. They have vindication for their actions, which makes their failings all the more tragic.
The stories that stuck with me the most were Flamingo Valley, Pawn, Chick and Siren. That being said, all the stories were great reads.

Nie mam słów na opisanie emocji, które czuję. Każde z opowiadań wprowadzało swoistą atmosferę, były zarazem bardzo bliskie mojemu sercu, jakbym wszystko już to znała, a jednocześnie dość odległe, ukazujące inny świat.
