My favorite of her three memoirs. It was quite nostalgic going through her adolescence and first love. The rush of her first crush and kiss brought back memories in swarms of butterflies in my own stomach.

Definitely recommend this one. :)

I loved The Liar's Club. Loved it. I enjoyed the first half of Cherry (though not as much as The Liar's Club). The second half, where Karr mostly gets high a lot, was just too much like a bad acid trip (I imagine). Reading it made me feel seasick and dizzy. I skimmed through it quickly to get it over with. Overall it was fairly interesting, but I'd definitely recommend The Liar's Club (and, I suspect, Lit, which I'm just starting now) over this volume of Karr's memoirs. I just don't feel like I would have missed much if I had skipped it.

A very evocative memoir of what teenage years can be like.

Not my favorite. Loved The Liars Club, but this one deals heavily with drug use, and acid trips confuse me.

Mary Carr is one of the best memoir writers around. Lit was phenomenal, but I loved the Liar's Club and Cherry as well. I wish I could write half as good as her.
