Loved this. So vividly written and very similar to the movie I also love. Carrie was such a misunderstood character and you really feel for her. I did not expect (and loved!) all the mixed media; it added layers to the story.

The King I've avoided reading for ages because I know the film so well. There's a lot more to the plot in the book, particularly the second half. Interesting use of documents to tell the story. Really captures the feeling of being a bullied outsider and the cruelty that sometimes exists in high school.

Being only the second Stephen King book I've ever read my expectations were high beginning the author's debut book. And I was not disappointed. I wish I had not previously seen any version of the movie based on the book, but was still captivated by the quick read. I greatly enjoy King's ability to write with enough detail to elicit my imagination without confining it. I'm already looking forward to my next King book.
