So I was like 10 pages from the end when my daughter comes home from school and sees me reading. She says, "Oh, that's a sad book." Thanks a bunch!

She was right. It was sad.

3.5 Stars. I've read this book before, but just finished reading it out loud to the girls. Hannah had also heard it before, so she didn't pay that much attention. Courtney said she didn't like it so much (because of the ending), but Hayley said she liked it. I think it is a good story, even with its ending, although I don't know how realistic it is for a small boy to fend for himself and take over a farm the way Little Willy does.

When a book makes your whole class cry, you know it's a good one.

Too sad and depressing.

Painnnn. I remember reading this in elementary and crying, did it again today

It's been a while since I've read this book. Seems like I didnt like it when I read it. Can't remember what the book was about though. Guess it didn't make an impression on me.

Oh my goodness, if I could take back reading that last chapter I would. William and Noah had such sweet predictions about what was going to happen, and none of us ever saw that ending coming.

Will:
It was a pretty good book, but the ending made it two stars.

Noah:
I'm sad.

It's okay, I'm just crying openly at the Boston Public Library.

I read this book when I was eight, and I still remember exactly how it ends because I was so devastated. Very scarring but powerful.
