I love 1984, the original. It’s such a warning to what could and is happening in the world.

This graphic novel fell short, it was way too wordy, almost like reading the book. The illustrations could have conveyed more feelings and the words could have been reduced.

Still, it’s a good way to take in this great classic.

I když 1984 u nás už vyšlo v mnoha vydáních, já se s příběhem seznámila úplně poprvé až díky této komiksové adaptaci od francouzského ilustrátora Xaviera Coste.

Netuším, jak moc se komiksové zpracování liší od originálního příběhu, ale i tohle mi bohatě stačilo na to, abych po dočtení neměla slov a jen si říkala, že to teda bylo něco.

Kresba mě na první pohled šokovala a chvíli mi trvalo, než mi došlo, že tyhle dvoubarevné náčrty skvěle fungují, doplňují děj, vyvolávají silnou atmosféru a předávají čtenáři ty správné emoce.

Za mě se jedná o opravdu velmi povedený komiks, který má jen nešťastně zvolený formát, protože se nedá nikam zarovnat do knihovny, takže si ho každý hned všimne. Je to velká (ne)výhoda?
