I really liked the book, but did not enjoy the act of reading it; as seems to be the case for me with most of McEwan’s work. I will say it is carefully constructed and thought-provoking, but I didn’t necessarily find myself captivated. Excellent writing though.

I had to read this book for my Uni class and it took me forever to read. The fact that as a whole, my class just discussed how bad it was. The writing itself was good, the characters were so bland and underdeveloped. McEwan just likes to dump information that isn't important to show off that he did research. I honestly don't get how this book did so well. And mainly I wrote an essay and my topic was just the way age is portrayed in the book, Henry is a nonce. The way he talks about children and talks uses them as similies is honestly so disturbing and it hurt me to read.
