Keris and Zarrah are my favourite leads of this series. They had so much chemisty and the build up of their relationship was done so well. I always love getting different POVs of the same story as it lets you see what was happening behind the scenes that you get a hint of. Keris is my favourite male lead, he was just so compelling and his devotion to Zarrah melted my heart.
I really loved the pace of this book as it didnt rush itself into catching up to the events of the Traitor Queens instead letting it build up to it.

This one... this took a WHILE to read. No real idea why it took so long seeing as though I was hooked to every detail anytime I picked it up.
I LOVE Keris — to me, there's something about an arrogant, intelligent male leadthat will tap into the worst parts of him to save the person he loves. Even if his conscious plagues him with regret every single moment following. His relationship with Zarrah was so much more interesting to me than the relationship between Lara and Aren. Between him and Zarrah, there was blind attraction, then there was forbidden attractions, and THEN there was this desperation between them that just hit so different. Watching the development of their characters was also incredibly interesting and kept me hooked.
The politics and the warfare, so masterfully strategized by Jensen in her work — it's hard not to sit back and be mind blown sometimes.

The writing was lovely but unfortunately this was a little slower for me, seeing as it recounted events from the previous two books from another POV. The stakes were also lower seeing as we already knew where the story was headed. The last few chapters gave the most new insight.

While I fell straight into the first duology, I really struggled with the first 30% of this. It all felt like a bit of deja vu. And not because we we’re seeing the same events from a different POV but the parallels between characters, their relationships, even the alligators to take the place of sharks. But I did grow to enjoy it and am straight onto the next.
