This was good! It’s a collection of short stories about a black out in New York. It was a super good listen with a bunch of different narrators, would be great for a long car ride!

This is an interconnected short story collection by several Black authors with the theme of Black teen #love.
There are 6 stories all taking place simultaneouly pictured at a widespread power cut ( Blackout) in NYE.

The first story the long walk sees to ex lovers meet again and weaves through the length of the book covering the stories. There are beautiful themes of two boys caught in a train coach, of two best friends trying to realize their love caught at a library, first meeting between a cabbie and a girl trying to get to a party.

There is No Sleep till Brooklyn where we see struggles with feelings for two people and then there s lesbian love in a senior s living facility between two young girls!

Although the book has several authors we love and theme is excellent, somehow, this book didnot work for me. Although it has touched many aspects and the transition was kind of smooth, the sequence seemed stretched to me.

It eseentially felt like that as the theme was pre determined and the storied had to be fed into it, the best did not come out. So although the theme is again a BRILLIANT one for me, the stories kinda felt meh to me!

Liked all of the stories but liked the last one the most. I also enjoyed made to fit but the plot twist fell kinda flat though. Least favorite would probably be no sleep for Brooklyn, it really just wasn't my thing. Overall really enjoyed it though. Shoutout to gay people fr
