This book had a little bit of everything. Some things were a bit coincidental, and I'm not one to fully believe in ghosts, but it was a good read. However, it's a book I only want to read once.
A nicely done ghost story and murder mystery. This book flips back and forth between the present following Fiona, a journalist still looking for answers to her sister’s death, and the past, following. 4 different girls that attended Idlewild Hall. The body of Fiona’s sister was found 20 years ago on the property of Idlewild Hall. Now, the property has been bought, and the school is being renovated, when the body of a girl is found. The story revolves around trying to find out answers in both deaths. This book started a little slow, but picked up about 1/2 way through. Literally, I could not stop reading from 1/2 way to the end.
Fairly similar in style to Simone St. James' book 'The Sun Down Motel', complete with various storylines throughout different time periods, all connected to one specific place, supernatural elements, and a larger mystery that is slowly solved throughout the book. The plots and characters within the different time periods came together really well to help build the suspense of what really happened to Fiona's sister, as well as what happened to the group of girls who attended Idlewild Hall.
