I bursted out laughing at the part where they said only men would run blogs for serial killers, because women are just better than that
Final Girls seemed to be a great title and I was very excited to read it. There are 3 “final girls” in this story and it follows the POV of one girl who faced a grueling cabin massacre. She tries to live a normal life despite her circumstances. Things start to change as another “final girl” comes to her life and uncovers dark secrets that links all of the final girls together.
The book was slow-paced and it took 2/3 of the story to finally get things moving. I liked the parts where the author writes the events of the massacre. These flashbacks were more interesting than the actual present day events.
The main character is frustratingly naive. She makes questionable decisions like your stereotypical horror protagonist. She’s just dumb. I guess we should consider her psychological state being burdened by trauma and be emotionally unstable. You want to root for her but she makes it hard for the reader.
After all that build up, they give you a reveal that was just not delivered effectively. It seemed rushed. The novel then ended quickly with a few pages with the tackiest line you could ever think off. Ugh. That was my reaction of the last line.
