Very well written propaganda, but reading as an adult shows me how little substance this story really has with weakly developed characters that feel empty and hollow. Lowry's articulate verbiage is the book's saving grace, but her storytelling leaves much to be desired.

My middle school students have been reading this for years in English and telling me they really liked it. I can see why. I really enjoyed it.

Very torn with my thoughts on this book. In one hand I do think the message and open-endedness is thought-provoking and important, but the story itself felt so sparse. I wanted more from it. This felt like an amazing first few chapters of an even bigger book almost. The vague character development and plot points do leave a lot up for interpretation which I think is interesting, but I wish we got more.

3.5- technically, this is a re-read for me since I read this in 8th grade for school. Our teacher would read it to us and sometimes, she would play chapters on audio for us to listen to instead, so this was very nostalgic for me as I listened to the audiobook

Bardzo ciekawy koncept świata i społeczeństwa. Nie mogę doczekać się, aż dowiem się czegoś więcej w kolejnej części. Mimo, że język i historia są dostosowane do młodszych odbiorców to czytało się naprawdę dobrze.
