Chloe Liese writes some of the best mental health rep in romance. The MMC's anxiety was very similar to what I have experienced. I also loved that even though his family is pretty toxic and hold themselves to a beyond high standard, Jamie has found himself and is comfortable with a job that he loves. I really liked Bea, the FMC, but found her relationship with her twin to be a little too codependent at times. I am excited to see where her other sister's stories go.

blushing and giggling and kicking my feet the whole time btw

The writing is fantastic and I enjoyed the third person dual POV. the characters feel like distinct, relatable people. The book can be very funny, but it is very serious about neurodivergent / anxiety representation. It's very healing to read about characters feeling safe with each other, being serious about consent. I felt particularly seen as a person who struggles to make friends.

I was pretty much in love with the first 1/3 of the book. I think reading it over a period of 5 days may have ruined some of the enjoyment for me. My favourite thing is to finish a novel in two days and feel the emotional up and downs deep in my bones. I wasn't quite as invested near the end. Might also be that the initial crushing and yearning is what I love the most. The fantasising is a lot of fun to read about.

It is spicy, but not the spiciest. I could've maybe done with a little less, but I found it well written and consistent with the characters' personalities.

Curious about the spin off, might give it a try.

God I LOVE Chloe Liese so much. SO MUCH. I am always so sad when I know the end of her books are coming because then it's done and I'm done and NOW WHAT?

Anyways, this was wonderful. I loved it with all of my heart but I'll tell ya why later.

It's later.

Chloe Liese's writing seems so effortless but one look at the acknowledgements and you'll see for yourself just how much work goes into getting these books just right. She has thrown win after win right into my FACE and how could I do anything other than thank you and fall in love with everyone accordingly.

I'm so excited for this book to come out. I love a fake dating trope and when these two are sick and tired of people meddling in their love lives, they take matters into their own hands.

The two figure out a foolproof plan to pretend to have fallen in love with each other after being set up in an act of revenge. They want it to blow up in their friend's faces. Except... we all know how fake dating goes around these parts. Chloe gives us all the best parts of her writing in this one but still makes it unique from all of her other books. Representation? Sex scenes? youuuu GOTTEM. Like always, her books are so genuine and special. There is so much care that goes into this writing and I adore every minute I spend reading.

Thank you NetGalley and Berkley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!
