The Opposite of Me by Sarah Pekkanen

Fun, light, but predictable quick read. I enjoyed Pekkanen's writing style, and the beginning of the book really had me riveted. The rest of the book was still good but suffered from some pacing issues and wasn't terribly believable. Lindsey's new job just seemed so far out of character that it was hard to believe. I think opening her own small ad agency would have made more sense for the character. Overall, an enjoyable read. I gobbled it up in two days, which isn't bad considering the fact that most of my reading is at lunch and after toddler bedtime.

Kinda trite premise. But I don't know a whole lot about a sister relationship, so maybe I'm not one to judge. But it moved right along and interested me enough to keep reading and find out the end.

My first time reading Ms. Pekkanen's books & I really enjoyed it! Picked up the book in the afternoon & finished it before bed. Good "chic lit"--easy reading, leaves you wondering what will happen next as you read. I found myself wishing for a sequel. It did bother me for a bit that Lindsay didn't persue her own business in advertising, but it all turned out fine.

I enjoyed this story and was so glad to see the growth of the characters. It was a heart-warming story which had its ups and downs. There were twist and turns that brought the whole story together! I look forward to reading her new book Skipping a Beat and will recommend The Opposite of Me to all my reader buddies!

This book was recommended to me by a friend. At first, I was not crazy about the story. The main character did not resonate with me and I didn't like the choices she was making. However, the story took a steep turn and I became totally absorbed in it. I definitely want to read more by this author!

Sweet. But not my fave of Pekkanen’s. Definitely not the worst. The ending was so rushed and abrupt.

This may be one of my favorite books of 2011. At first I thought Lindsey was a whiny brat, but she quickly grew on me. It was fun to watch Lindsey discover a new side to herself - and I'm a sucker for a life-altering makeover like the one that takes place in this book.

Yes, some of the plot points are cliche, and I figured out the ending pretty early on. However, the characters are warm and well developed, the writing flows and the story is enjoyable to read. It felt a bit like a cozy blanket.
