It is definitely not my usual read. Check the trigger warning (I didn’t !!). But I liked it. The end got me hooked. I am left without word, it was so dark.

This book had me conflicted. It’s not that I didn’t like the writing or think that it was well written (which it was) but that I don’t think it was the book for me. I appreciate how descriptive and evocative Sutherland is — she was able to submerge me in the Hollow’s world, whether it was the Halfway or London. However, I struggled with the dark, dank and the ugly of the landscapes she painted. It made everything seem so hopeless and that just isn’t what I personally enjoy as a reader.
