Best Vampire Series

I have loved this series since I was a kid and first read it. I re-read it every few years. It is that good!

Thirst's main lead is Sita, who believes she’s the last vampire, but discovers she isn’t. She needs to stay alive and out of danger as foes (new and old) try to take her down.

This is my first time reading this electronically as “Thirst,” instead of the original series as paperback. It didn’t disappoint. I’m super excited to continue reading the series!!

For those of you not familiar with Christopher Pike books, this is a young adult book, so there isn't any sex scenes, but sex is mentioned, which use to make teenage me feel like I was reading something scandalous. Haha. Adult me would love to see this turned into an adult series, but I still love it how it is.

For any vampire book readers, this is a must-read series! There is so much action, adventure, history, and mythology in this book, it's hard to put it down!

These aren't the shiny/sparkly vampires of Twilight and that's okay. If you've read some of my past reviews, you'll know I'm a huge Twilight fan too, but this book and this author started my love of vampires. Sita has classic strength, speed, and most of all, heart. Plus, we see her acquire new skills. It's neat to know that even a 5,000 year old vampire can learn and grow. Don't get me wrong though, she often still sounds like the 19 year old she was when she was changed.

I hope you give this series a try or give it to a tween/teen you know. It deserves to keep coming around for many generations. Happy reading y’all!!

There is something about this series that really got me. First off the heroine isn't some unfathomably nice, kind vampire; she kills and she kicks ass. But she is so much more than just a one dimensional butt-kicking vampire; Sita has such a big past, and so many longings for love and family.

Thirst IS a little different from most vampire books, and it is very fast paced; almost like watching a television series. But if you like something different, fast paced and moving in an unexplainable way then I suggest you read this!

I really enjoyed this series. I have never read Christopher Pike before but would consider doin so again. I am definately going to read the next three, because I can not wait to see what happens with sita after the third book.

I didn't think this book was gory. In parts it talked about gushing blood but that is expected with vampires. I think anyway.

I liked Sita because she is one tough woman. She had to be that way to protect the ones she cares for and her secrets.

Also with this book I never expected the twists and turns it took in every book.

I suggest anyone who is reading this to keep reading because it gets better as you read and you learn more about Sita past as well.

I really enjoyed this book. I like that Sita can take care of herself. I don't like her methods of getting information out of someone. I like that she finds love with Ray and that they become a couple. I like how she is trying to help. I don't like how she eliminates the bad guys of the town, but, I'm glad they aren't around to hurt other town members.

Once again I loved this book. I love Sita so much! I feel bad for her because she thinks shes the last vampire left. I hate how someone begins hunting down her and Ray. I love the relationship between her and Ray. I hate how the FBI is trying to get their blood and use it for research. I felt bad for Joel and how he became a vampire. I love how she has to rescue Joel from certair death and being experimented on. I love all the action in this book and how it keeps the reader entertained. You won't want to put this book down. I definitely recommend this book to everyone. 5 stars.

Update 2/20/17: I do plan to re-read the other 2 in this bind up but it's been 3 years since I read the first one so I'm taking this off my currently reading shelf.

The Last Vampire: 3.5 stars.

Thirst No.1 is not like the popular vampire stories of today. It was a good book but it was very different than what I am used to reading. I would have to recommend giving it a shot though if you enjoy non-traditional vampire tales.

Thirst No.1 is actually the first three books in the series; The Last Vampire, Black Blood, and Red Dice. It makes it a bit more difficult to review but I will try my best. The Thirst books were originally published in the early 90's and that is one of the main reasons why it is so different. I liked reading about more traditional vampires with extraordinary stories.

All three stories are about Alisa Perne, the last vampire on earth. She is a brutal vampire, not afraid to kill people to hide her secret. I was a bit shocked at all the killing in the book and I didn't really get over that. It was my biggest problem with the book. It was also pretty gory at times. Probably not the best book for younger readers.

My other problem with Thirst No.1 was Alisa. I never felt connected to her. She was cocky, selfish, cruel, and just an all-around bitch. Of course she changed a little throughout the book but not enough. She was 5,000 years old. She should have been way more mature than she actually was.

Overall, Thirst No.1 was just an average book. I felt like it could have been a lot better and I'm hoping the rest of the series does improve. Like I said though, still give this one a shot. You might be surprised by it.

I wouldn't have picked this up on my own, but this was a gift. All things considered, it was a good choice for me since I like young adult fiction AND vampires. I also went through a Christopher Pike phase in my oh so long ago middle school years. (Although my husband...the wonderful gift giver did not actually know that. That said, I was intrigued by this book when I started reading it.

I was quickly disappointed. This book was actually four books in one and each was more disjointed than the last. The main character Alisa (or Sita to her friends) is a (a 5,000 year old vampire). She didn't have much depth (and neither did the stories) beyond - I am a vampire. I am perfect, I am strong, I can do anything, I am invincible, Nothing can stop me. Oh by the way I like to kill and I don't feel bad about killing...it is who I am. There is something to be said about the fact that main character was secure in who (and what) she was and did not spend time trying to "become human" or "fit in" as in so many vampire books.

And of course we find out that she IS invincible. BUT she doesn't learn or change or grow as a character. She was simply so cold (and arguably maybe that is how vampires would actually be...especially after being alive for 5,000 years) that I did not care one fig about who she was, what happened to her in the past, or in the present.

There were some parts that were captivating and interesting to me (such as the mythos of how vampires came to exist) However, the entire story/book was so segmented (the books went from ancient vampire feud to modern day governmental research facility) that it was not enjoyable. My brain just kept going...huh??? Of course there is another book. I'm not going to go out and buy, but if I see it on a discounted rack somewhere I may consider picking it up and reading it.
