I loved all the other books in the series and I was so excited about this one. I’m disappointed in the story line. The fact it took months into her marriage for her to learn the truth and she wasn’t even trying much to win him back when she realized it. The book could have been great if FMC found out before the marriage and spent it trying to win him back and then the Angst that happened before they went to the island. The best friend dad did FMC dirty by not telling her sooner and allowing her to live with the guilt and pain. I’m overall disappointed. I wish she didn’t ruin who seira was going to marry with the ending since it will be a while before it’s released

I’ll start with how appalled I am about the lack of trigger warnings in this book. I went into it not expecting any real triggers based on the many other Cat Maura books I’ve read (and enjoyed) in the past.
We get about 40% in and we have on page suicide, followed by a detailed suicide letter to the FMC after the fact.
I went back to check the trigger warnings, to see that it had a note that they are at the end of the book because of “spoilers”, which is simply not good enough.

The Broken Vows was far too long in my opinion, and I don’t think they should have ended up together.
They both did atrocious things to one another repeatedly throughout the story, then would fall into bed over and over again.

I found the plot to be so repetitive that I would often skip chunks of text because it felt so similar to what I’d already read before.
The smut was also repetitive and happened far too much without actually adding anything to the story. There’s only so many times I can read the same sex scene in a book, and this one far exceeded it.

At this point, I hope Grandma Anne dies in the next book because of how much she meddles and interferes in all her grandchildren’s lives, but it’s made okay because everything always works out in the end.

Hopefully the next book is better, but I was incredibly disappointed in this book as a whole.
