reading an age gap romance where the fmc (19) is younger than me (20) was certainly an experience

A clear 5 stars for me.

my very first Penelope Douglas read and i am hooked!

the slow burn!
the tension!
the forbidden aspect of it !!!!

just kept me going day and night! literally.. and im loosing sleep bcz of it!
i did not know how substantial and prominent my daddy issue was up until i meet THE PIKE LAWSON.

Good gracious, he is something else! NO! He is EVERYTHING i wanted and needed in a book husband >< A part of me getting scared of what i have become, the other part of me saying just fxk it! its not me and its fiction. i don't even care.

what i love about this book is not just how hot Pike is.
Its how well formed and curated each and every character in their own setting.
Pike and Jordon clearly being pushed by the Universe to be a functioning adult earlier than any of their same aged friends which is pretty sucks but they own it like a champ.

the slow burn in this just eats me alive when Jordon clearly continues to be a hot headed responsible young woman with hopes that she will not burden any of her parents, sisters and of course, PIKE. I have a soft spot for character who undergo hardships and still stay true to themselves, but when they found their soulmate and getting spoiled beyond belief just gets me every time. so many times where we can hear Jordan's inner monologue of how grateful she is for Pike and her sister! She is strong and independent for a 19 y/o and im in awe all the way.

not gonna lie, i teared up in one scene where Jordan lied to Pike of her whereabouts that night when her abusive ex suddenly stalked her after working hours. making her sleep on a pool table :( and pike being his considerate self was worried all night long. and when he finally knew the real reason for her not coming home, he clearly letting Jordan know that she can always calls him and ask for help. and i remember i needed to put the book down for a while because i cried so much :( imma softie and i know. Jordan deserve the world and Pike is giving it to her.

so please, give this book a try.

i know its taboo but the plot is well written and spicy.
to many more morally grey characters in my tbr.
hahahahhhahahahahhaha (less)

This was such a great read - I read it in 2 days, I could not put it down. I was really rooting for Jordan and Pike right from the beginning. As the book went on, Jordan's immature side definitely started showing, but I think that was believable to life. Pike treating her like a child/thinking of her as a kid at time was a little problematic, but who cares!

This is a taboo romance and considering the above character traits/thoughts, it could easily have been creepy but it wasn't. Having both POVs definitely helped with this. Overall, it was incredibly sexy and angsty - there's build up, tension, and heartache!

If I were to be picky, my only issue with this book was when
Cole was really quick to forgive his father and tell him he loved him. I felt this was so out of character and convenient but this was my only issue with the book.
